Cosmetology is the art and science of beautifying the hair, nails, and skin. A cosmetologist is an expert in applying cosmetic procedures, therapies, and treatments to beautify one’s outer appearance and implementing cosmetic treatments on people’s hair, skin, and nails. Specific disciplines in cosmetology include esthetics (skin care), and other beauty treatments. Cosmetologists are skilled at everything from whitening and skin treatments to scar removal and tattoo removal.

Laser Hair Reduction

If you're not happy with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal may be an option worth considering. Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures. It beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles and pigment in the follicles absorbs the light which destroys the hair. Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the face, legs, chin, back, arms, underarms, bikini line, and other areas. Laser hair removal is more than just "zapping" unwanted hair. It is a medical procedure that requires training to perform.

Laser Pigmented Lesions & Tattoo Removal

Lasers are often used in the treatment of pigmented lesions of the mucosa and skin. Their minimally invasive nature, combined with their efficacy, has placed them at the forefront of therapeutic options for patients with these lesions. Lasers are chosen to selectively target pigment in the skin and leave a small scab on the skin surface to stimulate pigment removal. The settings of the laser and the treatment protocol are calibrated to achieve a good cosmetic result while avoiding skin discoloration. Laser tattoo removal utilizes selective photo thermolysis (SPTL) for the selective destruction of tattoo pigments.

Micro – Needle Therapy (Derma Roller)

Micro needling is a derma roller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Micro needling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores. Micro needling is minimally invasive, requiring no downtime. It’s considered safe for most people who are in overall good health. Micro needling is considered effective in treating minor scarring related to acne, wounds, and aging. You’ll likely notice brighter, firmer skin, too. Ideal results are achieved after multiple sessions.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion involves a skin care specialist removing the top layer of skin with a small hand-held device. Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin-related concerns and conditions. Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer. Microdermabrasion can be suitable for people with any skin color.

Chemical Peeling

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. The skin that grows back is smoother. With a light or medium peel, you may need to undergo the procedure more than once to get the desired results. Chemical peels are used to treat wrinkles, discolored skin, and scars, usually on the face. They can be done alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures. And they can be done at different depths, from light to deep.

Laser Vascular Treatment

Vascular laser treatments are effective at eliminating spider veins, superficial blood vessels and capillaries, and other vascular lesions that are commonly seen around the nose, eyes, legs, cheeks, and lips. Before vascular laser treatments, the skin is cleansed and a cool gel is applied. Light energy targeting visible blood vessels is delivered to the skin through a hand piece. The vessels absorb the light energy and are then damaged and dissolved by the body without injury to surrounding tissue. A vascular laser causes a brief stinging sensation that can be relieved by cool compresses. Treatments are quick, and most patients report only mild discomfort.

Radio Frequency

Radiofrequency (RF) therapy, also called radiofrequency skin tightening, is a nonsurgical method of tightening your skin. The procedure involves using energy waves to heat the deep layer of your skin, known as your dermis. This heat stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. Radio frequency skin tightening is a non-invasive procedure where the doctor will use a hand piece that is connected to a machine that creates radio waves. They will pass the wand over your body to apply radio waves to your skin. The treatment also speeds up cell turnover, so the skin gets firmer and thicker over time.

Skin Tightening

With non-surgical skin tightening, cosmetic surgeons can effectively tighten moderately lax or "wrinkled" skin on the face, neck, and body, helping patients improve their appearance and postpone the need for surgery. In general, non-surgical skin tightening procedures work by using targeted energy to heat deeper layers of skin, which stimulates collagen and elastin production and gradually improves skin tone and texture. Non-surgical skin tightening is generally best suited for patients who are bothered by mild to moderate skin laxity and do not need the more dramatic lifting and skin removal possible with cosmetic surgery.

Dimple Creation

Dimples over the cheeks can give a touch of cuteness to the face and are, in general, aesthetically pleasing. Naturally, they can appear only on one side or both cheeks, and be of varying numbers and depths. Dimple creation surgery can be done on any type or size of cheek. Dimple creation surgery can be done with just a local anesthetic. You will be comfortable and awake throughout the entire dimple surgery.

Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis is a treatment for hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. It involves sending a gentle electrical current through water to shut down your sweat glands temporarily. The currents are often delivered to the hands, feet, or armpits to block your sweat glands temporarily. Iontophoresis is most commonly used to treat hyperhidrosis disorder, a condition that results in persistent and excessive sweating. In most cases, iontophoresis takes at least two weeks of consistent use to show results.

Filler Injection

Filler injections can plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases, remove wrinkles, and improve the appearance of scars. Filler injections are synthetic or naturally occurring substances injected into the lines, folds, and tissues of the face to decrease the appearance of wrinkles and restore the facial fullness that decreases with age. The vast majority of fillers are absorbable. Thus, they offer temporary results that last from months to a couple of years, depending on the product and the person.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a skin-resurfacing procedure that uses a rapidly rotating device to sand the outer layers of skin. Immediately after dermabrasion, the treated skin will be reddish and swollen. The skin that grows back is usually smoother. Dermabrasion can reduce the appearance of fine facial lines and improve the look of many skin flaws, including acne scars, scars from surgery, age spots, and wrinkles. Dermabrasion can be done alone or in combination with other cosmetic procedures. During dermabrasion, your doctor numbs your skin with anesthetics. Skin treated with dermabrasion will be sensitive and blotchy for several weeks.
